Game Changers:
  • The Game Changers Project is a partnership between OPEN, Sojourner House, a Providence, Rhode Island-based domestic violence support agency, and the youth advocacy group Young Voices. Together we are developing the world’s first online video game designed exclusively to support the teaching and learning of non-violent skills and concepts – Healthy Teen Relationships. Virtual National Park Series Update
  • Virtual Mesa Verde National Park is now revised to include richer narrative, realistic graphics, and social studies content aligned to standards. This OPEN Unit housed in Quest Atlantis allows children to travel back in time to live a day in the life of the Ancient Puebloans. see video.

Department of Education Grant
  • OPEN has received a grant to develop 3D web-based virtual reality games as a supplement to middle school life science, social studies, and persuasive writing curricula. The games will be based in environments that are representations of real-world U.S. National Parks.

Title I Compliance
Title I Research Documentation for QA and OPEN learning worlds. Rigorous research methods have been used to track and document the success of QA and OPEN learning worlds in the classroom. OPEN is partnering with the Quest Atlantis 3D education program and platform. QA combines strategies used in the gaming world with lessons from educational research on learning and motivation to engage youth.
